Job description

Applications are invited for a Science Foundation Ireland funded Ph.D. position in synthetic organic and organometallic chemistry with a focus on C-H bond activation of alkenes. The position will be based in the group of Prof. D. O’Shea in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, (http://www.ucd.ie/chem/oshea/index.html) at University College Dublin, which has superb laboratory and analytical facilities. The candidate should hold, or be about to receive, a first class B.Sc. (Hons) degree in chemistry or equivalent. A background in multi-step synthetic organic chemistry is desirable, but the key requirement is the candidate's enthusiasm for the subject coupled with a desire to improve his or her ability and knowledge in synthetic chemistry.

The funding includes stipend and tuition fee for an EU national and is available from Sept. 2008.
